Dan Mattoon,
President
Dan Mattoon is a veteran of the Washington
political arena. For more than 25 years, including six
years with the former lobbying firm PodestaMattoon, he has been a D.C.
lobbyist, successfully representing many diverse clients
and industries before Congress and the Executive Branch.
For more than 35 years, he has provided political and
strategic legislative counsel to many House and Senate
Republicans, including former Speaker Dennis Hastert,
House Republican Leader John Boehner, House Republican
Whip Eric Cantor, former NRCC Chairmen Tom Cole, Tom
Davis, and Tom Reynolds, as well as Senators Richard
Burr, Saxby Chambliss, Tom Coburn, John Cornyn, Mike
Crapo, and Jim DeMint, among others.
During the tumultuous 1999-2000
election cycle, he returned to Capitol Hill after a
nearly fifteen year absence and was appointed Deputy
Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. Under
his leadership, the Republicans maintained control
of the House of Representatives for a fourth consecutive
Congress for the first time since the 1920's.
During his previous fifteen-year
tenure as Vice President of Congressional Affairs at
BellSouth Corporation, he was instrumental in helping
to enact landmark communications legislation. Passage of the “Telecommunications
Act of 1996” provided him with a unique insight
into the workings of a major corporation, and his hands-on
approach with Members of Congress and the Bush Administration
has given him working knowledge of what it takes to get
the job done in Washington.
He has consistently been named
one of Roll Call's political “Fabulous
Fifty,” and one of The Hill's “Top Hired
Guns.” He has also appeared on MSNBC and
C-SPAN discussing current affairs and politics.
